Research & Development
We have several ongoing research and development programs.
Project code name: "Athena"
Our Athena project is based on a very reliable set of Freescale reference designs for use with the MPC8349 processor. We designed "Athena" to compete with other “Power” motherboards running at speeds of 500-700 MHz. The feature set includes USB 2.0 high speed, Gigabit Ethernet, SATA and support for DDR RAM (DIMMS).
We are proud to say that using reference designs has allowed us to have a working system running Linux from day one. It currently runs a variant of Debian Linux.
Project Status:
1) The re-design work has been nearly completed at this time, the last adjustments pending agreement on a completed port of OS 4.x, followed by OS testing and then release to the public.
Athena has been on hold for some time, while awaiting the outcome of the lawsuit between Hyperion Entertainment and Amiga, Inc., or for an agreement to be reached with Hyperion.2) Our focus now is to shift our “Athena” project into supplementary markets as they become available. MorphOs and AROS PPC both look like good candidates, and other OSes and markets are being considered as well. Please feel free to contact us for further information.
Athena Preview
Some of the Athena project goals:
1) A low cost entry level system designed with the intent to lower cost of entry for AmigaOS 4.x
2) An entry level OS 4.x developer system designed to expand and refine Amiga Os4x drivers for various pci add on devices. These include sound cards, graphics cards, USB devices etc.
3) Ensure hardware availability for OS 4.x users, developers, and potential future users.
4) Provide an excellent Price/Performance ratio, i.e. Fun!
5) Price goal was, and remains, $300-350 US /227 Euros
